Head, Heart, Hips: H3
Today we will go over the ‘Triple H Lesson’: Head -> Heart -> Hips. I believe that the head (mind+brain) controls the heart, the heart controls the hips and the hips control the rest of your body. Hear me out… let’s assume you live in a world where you have to work to earn a living. Also, you have friendships that you enjoy as well as others that you are not quite sure what to do with. You enjoy healthy foods as well as fun foods like guacamole and chips, the occasional Spaghetti Bolognaise and/or a nice cold margarita. Let’s top that with the occasional bad night of sleep. Those elements alter how you feel, usually compounding stress upon stress. When we feel tired or stressed we tend to be on our phones more, sitting down for longer periods of time, causing what I call ‘Closed Heart Postures’. It’s where the head and shoulders round over your heart. This puts stress on the heart and cardiovascular system, of course. When your energy decreases, you again sit down for longer periods, closing not only the heart but also the hips. The hips hold a lot of stress and tension that we sometimes are not aware of. Faulty movement patters start at the hips. Blood flow and detoxification is diminished. The body becomes weaker and stiffer in the poorest of postures. But, we still love to get out and enjoy what we enjoy… sports, traveling, dinners, etc. I’m always looking out for my client’s best interest. What I want to achieve out of this sweet ‘illustrated’ post is awareness… that’s it. Become aware of how you are treating your HEAD -> HEART (this one is of outmost importance) -> HIPS.
Oh, and the plank is the perfect move to reset that beautiful posture!
